Army Sergeant Joey McGee

Army Sergeant Joey McGee joined the military in 1998, citing interest in serving his country, and to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, father, and older brother. He was honorably discharged from the military in 2013.

Sergeant McGee was injured on April 23, 2010 in Afghanistan during an ambush after dismount- ing from his vehicle. As a direct result of armed conflict, Sergeant McGee suffers from left hip bursistis, hypercholesterolemia, obstructive sleep apnea, lumbar strain, shin splints, left wrist ten- donitis, migraine headaches due to traumatic brain injury, persistent tinnitus, psoriasis, and other ailments.

Among the commendations awarded to Sergeant McGee were the Army Commendation Medal (2x), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/ two campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal. He also was presented with the Civilian Safety Award for overseeing the construction of a 2/7 Cavalry obstacle course, and maintaining an accident- and incident- free work environment for a period of 16 weeks while he was stationed at Ft. Bliss TX.

Sergeant McGee, wife Jessica, and their children would like to live in El Paso, Texas.
